The YPG-affiliated security force, Asayish, has arrested at least 30 people in northeastern Hassakeh province, saying they have links with the Islamic State, local activists reported Sunday.
Asayish, the police force of the Kurdish autonomous cantons, waged a major arrest campaign in Arab villages near the town of al-Shaddadi, south of Hassakeh city, according to activist Milad al-Youssef.
The campaign also reached the Mont Abdulaziz in the western countryside.
Hassakeh province has been divided into zones of Kurdish and Syrian regime control. It forms part of a broader battle for control of the long border area abutting Turkey.
