The Conquest Brigade, an Islamist rebel group operating in the town of Moadamiyet al-Sham in southern Damascus, has tortured to death a Syrian man over claims he collaborated with the Syrian regime, activists and the victim’s brother said Thursday.
Isasm Hamra’s family received his body with signs of torture late Wednesday, following his abduction on Monday, his brother, journalist Ali Hamra, said on his Facebook page.
Hamra wrote that residents are facing a new shabeeha, the Arabic term for pro-Assad militiamen. “The new ones are taking Islam as cover but they are practicing [with the] same tools of Assad regime,” he added.
