Coalition Hails FSA Protection of U.N. Aid Convoys

Vice President of the Syrian National Coalition, Mohammed Qaddah, has hailed the Free Syrian Army for protecting U.N. aid convoys which crossed the Jordanian border into Syria.

“This move lays bare the Assad regime’s systematic prevention of humanitarian aid under the pretext of preventing the infiltration of terrorists, and also proves that the FSA is the product of the Syrian Revolution," Qaddah said.

In a news release, the Coalition said that the Assad regime has repeatedly blocked the delivery of relief aid to needy Syrians in a flagrant violation of U.N. Security Council resolutions and humanitarian laws.

"The international community should pressure the Assad regime to comply with the U.N. Security Council resolution No. 2165 and allow the introduction of relief aid not only to all areas, including the besieged ones in Damascus suburbs, East Ghouta, Yarmouk Camp and Jobar,” Qaddah said.

Qaddah also said that “while the introduction of relief aid is a step in the right direction, more relief aid is needed to reduce the humanitarian catastrophe taking place in Syria today."

The Syrian Coalition has also called on the international community to "provide the Free Syrian Army with the necessary arms and ammunition to counter the growing danger of ISIS."

"There is no excuse for those who are keeping silent in front of the growing threat of this terrorist organization in the region," it said.
