President Bashar al-Assad said on Wednesday that Syria is currently waging a war of the mind, stressing the need to establish a balanced discourse in raising religious issues.
“(W)e can’t understand the Holy Quran, if we do not understand life, and we can’t apply it unless we understand the philosophy of life,” the president said during a meeting with religious figures and leaders in the capital Damascus.
For their part, attendees, which included members of a youth religious team, explained that their upcoming work will focus on strategically changing the way of thinking toward religious discourse.
