Syrians in Egypt have told al-Iqtissadi that Syrian families have begun returning to Syria, or moving to other countries, amidst concerns for their safety.
This reverse migration comes after a wide scale campaign carried out by the Egyptian Interior Ministry to arrest Syrians whose residency has expired. Dozens of Syrians were arrested Saturday in the city of Rehab, near Cairo.
Syrians reported that many families returning to Syria were obliged to pay extra money in bribes to book seats on returning flights as soon as possible.
They also said that the charges against them range from expired residencies to participation in riots.
