On Sunday, pro-regime Facebook pages posted that two Syrian regime officers had been mysteriously killed in the coastal region.
The Tartous 24 page mourned Brig. Gen. Mustafa Qassem, the governorate’s deputy police commander and secretary of the Baath Party’s Third Division.
Neither the Tartous 24 page nor any of the other pro-regime pages that published the news, disclosed the reason for the officer’s death. Qassem’s record has been sealed, just like the records of dozens of other officers killed during the past two years under the same circumstances.

The Tartous 24 page also mourned Fater Issa al-Hassan, a first lieutenant and Third Brigade fighter. Hassan hails from the city of Draikish in the countryside of the Tartous governorate, where he was also mysteriously killed.
According to the pro-regime pages, Brigadier General Rajab Ali Muhanna, a member of the Republican Guard militia in the regime forces, was killed several days ago. Muhanna hails from the village of Al-Arima in the Safsafa district of Tartous.
