The Seige of Qaboun and Barzeh

A six-month siege on the areas has prompted fears of an imminent raid and massacre

Two neighborhoods in Damascus have been under continuous siege for more than six months from military checkpoints, with recent support from Hezbollah forces, putting the lives of ordinary residents at risk.

The neighborhoods of Qaboun and Barzeh, Damascus, still accommodate 40,000 civilians who are suffering from a lack of food and medical supplies.

The Coalition fears that these two areas will be raided soon, which will lead to another massacre.  These continued massacres by the Assad regime aim at suppressing the revolution's goal of freedom.

The Coalition reminds the international community once again of its responsibilities as the regime of Bashar Assad continues to commit grave crimes against the Syrian people in their struggle for basic freedoms.

The international community is being called upon to protect the civilian population against the Syrian regime who continues to violate international conventions. We also urge the international community to support the revolution by preventing further bloodshed and defend the civilian population by arming the Free Syrian Army.

We ask for Mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded, and freedom for our detainees.

Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
