Statement on Humanitarian Crisis in Tal Kalakh, Homs

The international community did not heed warnings of impending massacre in Tal Kalakh
Statement on Humanitarian Crisis in Tal Kalakh, Homs

The Syrian National Coalition urges the U.N. and its affiliated agencies to take immediate action to save the lives of civilians in the city of Tal Kalakh.

Opening humanitarian corridors is required to transport wounded civilians and to rescue children, women, and the elderly.

Assad’s forces, reinforced by Hezbollah’s militias, are committing crimes against humanity in areas around Homs.  The city of Tal Kalakh has been under brutal assault, with dozens of women and children targeted and killed by Assad forces.

Previously, the Coalition warned that the siege of Tal Kalakh would put civilians at risk of starvation and death on a large scale. The Coalition called upon the international community to assume its responsibilities towards stopping the systematic killing of the Syrian people.

It is regrettable that the continued silence on the part of the international community made it possible for Assad’s regime to commit the massacre in Tal Kalakh.

We ask for Mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded and freedom for our detainees.

Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
