Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi met with World Health Organization (WHO) Representative in Syria Elizabeth Hoff on Sunday to discuss joint cooperation to enhance health awareness.
Zoubi reviewed the ministry’s efforts to raise cultural and health awareness, pointing out that pre-crisis Syria had gone a long way in the health sector in light of the spread of hundreds of medical centers and hospitals.
The minister affirmed that the current crisis has posed huge challenges for the health division due to terrorist acts, hailing the role of WHO in providing support for Syria’s medical sector.
Hoff, for her part, expressed hope in reaching a joint plan with the Information Ministry and promoting cooperation and coordination on issues of preserving public health in society and addressing the problems of the poor and needy, as well as families residing in temporary centers.
