First humanitarian aid reaches Yarmouk Camp in Damascus

As part of a peaceful popular initiative to alleviate the suffering of those trapped within the Yarmouk refugee camp in Damascus, the first batch of food supplies arrived Saturday, according to Anwar Raja, spokesman of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command.

In a statement to SANA, Raja pointed out that the aid was delivered through primitive and complicated means, as the Palestinian popular committees and families of the camp united to allow the aid in.

He added that the Syrian government offered all logistic and security assistance to deliver the batch of humanitarian aid.

A week ago, armed terrorist groups targeted an UNRWA aid convoy and prevented the delivery of aid into the camp.

Palestinian Minister of Labor, Ahmad Majdalani, stressed during a previous meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad in Damascus that the arrival of gunmen in the Palestinian camps is the reason behind the camps' suffering.
