Six people were arrested in Lattakia for dealing in foreign currency. This news comes in the context of efforts to pursue and prosecute those who deal in currencies other than the Syrian pound and based on information received by the Criminal Security Branch in Lattakia.

As a result of the follow-up and monitoring, the Criminal Security Branch in Lattakia was able to arrest six people. Upon investigation, it transpired that some of them have a criminal track record. Upon interrogation, they confessed that their intent to exchange and trade in foreign currency on the black market in Lattakia was for monetary gains.

Sums of foreign currency were confiscated from them (15,090 dollars and 300 euros) as well as 19,400,000 Syrian pounds. The confiscated sums were deposited in the Central Bank of Syria, and those arrested will be brought to justice.
