Assad Performs Eid al-Fitr Prayers in Damascus

At a mosque dedicated to his late father, President Assad performed the prayers that mark the end on the month long fast for Ramadan writes SANA.

On Wednesday, President Bashar al-Assad performed the prayers of Eid al-Fitr (the Festival that marks the end of the month long fast of Ramadan) at the Mosque of President Hafez al-Assad in Damascus. 

The Minister of Awqaf (Religious Endowments), senior officials in the state and the Baath Arab Socialist Party, a number of members from the People’s Assembly, a number of Islamic scholars and a crowd of citizens also performed the prayers along with President Assad. 

Sheikh Bashir Eid al-Bari delivered the Eid sermon in which he stressed the great and sublime meanings of the blessed Eid al-Fitr. 

He pointed out that God blessed Bilad al-Sham has remained glorious throughout history, despite the events and circumstances it passed through and today Syria is more steadfast in the face of the terrorist war against it.

Bari affirmed that the sons of Syria and its brave army, under the leadership of President Assad, are writing a glorious history as they cling to their land and defend their civilization against terrorism and against the enemies of Islam. 

He stressed that President Assad preserves the constants and defends the Islamic nation and Arabism .

The Mufti of Damascus implored to God Almighty to protect Syria, the brave Syrian army and the homeland.
