Hasan Abdul Azim, Coordinator –general of the National Coordination Commission (NCC) rejected in a press conference he held in Damascus any “direct dialogue or negotiations with the regime,” stressing that negotiations can only happen through the UN Envoy, Lakhdar Brahimi.

Syria’s internal opposition has joined the critics of President Assad’s plan which he suggested in his speech on Sunday.

NCC described Assad’s initiative as “unrealistic and unpractical.”

The Assad’s speech has come, NCC added, in order to “cut the initiative brought by Brahimi and his efforts” to end the crisis in Syria.

The NCC added that the regime wants its opponents to “give up arms and treat him as a triumphant, whereas things go in a different direction on the ground.
