Halqi: Government Spent SYP 12.4 Billion to Help People Affected by Crisis

Prime Minister Dr. Wael al-Halqi on Monday met Mother Fadia al-Laham from St. Jacob convent, affirming to her that the government is prepared to cooperate with international and civil society organizations to deliver humanitarian aid to citizens affected by the crisis.

Halqi noted that the government has spent around SYP 12.4 billion to help affected families, and is currently working to increase relief budgets to SYP 1 billion per month, adding that the government is providing relief to displaced citizens in 830 temporary housing centers, in addition to working to build 10,000 housing units to serve as temporary housing.

He noted that the public opinion in many countries has become aware of the misleading role of media in reporting the events in Syria thanks to the existence of honest media and people who managed to inform the world about the conspiracy targeting the Syrian people.

For her part, Mother Laham underlined the efforts and support provided by the Syrian government to international organizations, noting that she observed a marked change in the positions of politicians and public opinion regarding Syria during her visits to Europe as people realized the nature of the war waged on Syria and the unjust sanctions imposed on its people.
