U.N. Chief Says Dialogue the Only Solution

Ban called on Security Council members to allow weapons inspectors to complete their mission

U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has restated his belief that dialogue is the only solution to the crisis in Syria, calling give peace and diplomacy a chance.

"The U.N. Security Council's responsibility now is to make a comprehensive investigation to specify whether the chemical weapons were used or not," Ban said during a meeting with Hollande's Foreign Minister at The Hague.

Ban called on Security Council members to let the investigation team complete its report and said "providing the two sides with weapons led to nothing but more bloodshed."
