Force Against Syria Would Have Negative Consequences: Russian FM

The director of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergey Vershinin has said that using force against Syria would only have negative results.

In a speech at the Russian Social Council in Moscow on Tuesday, Vershinin said that Moscow believes that the use of force in Syria will also affect all geopolitical relations.

"Discussion of the Syrian crisis at the G20 summit will help bring the issue back to its political path," he said.

He added that the upcoming visit of the Russian parliamentary delegation to the U.S. will also help avoid a military scenario in Syria as the delegation will convey the Russian political and public stance that is totally against war on Syria.
