Maram Dawood, a member of the National Coordination Body for Democratic Change and the Syrian Medical Committee, and his friend Khaldoun Nithami, an IT university student were detained by Syrian authorities at the Jaramana checkpoint last Friday.
Dawood is an Economics student born in the city of Salamiyeh, near Hama in 1989. He coordinated and participated in several relief campaigns for the internally displaced.
A youth activist and an anti-war campaigner, Dawood participated and organized several workshops aimed at building a Syrian civil society, also working to demanding the release of prisoners and hostages detained during the conflict.
