National Vaccination Campaign Launched

Director of the National Immunization Program at the Ministry of Health, Nidal Abu Rashid, said that the campaign targets children between the ages of 1 to 15

The Syrian Health Ministry launched a nation-wide vaccination campaign against measles and poliomyelitis in all health and makeshift centers on Thursday that will run until 21 November.

Director of the National Immunization Program at the Ministry of Health, Nidal Abu Rashid, said that the campaign targets children between the ages of 1 to 15.

Rashid said that the campaign coincides with the “Childrens Health Days”, during which children are given vitamins, antipyretic, medical soap and high-energy biscuits.

Earlier on Sunday, the ministries of Health and Education, in cooperation with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), launched a national vaccination campaign against measles and poliomyelitis at schools.

The campaign targets 800,000 thousand children, and will continue until the end of the first semester.
