Minister of Interior Trade and Consumer Protection, Samir Qadi Amin said the drop in the dollar price against the Syrian Pound has positively affected the prices of food and basic materials.
He said a “gradual decrease between 10% to 30%" has occurred in the prices of some materials”.
The Minister was speaking at a session of the People's Assembly on Wednesday, headed by Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Laham to hear the Interior Trade Ministry's responses to questions raised by a number of MPs.
The MPs called for activating the supervision of directorates of consumer protection in the markets to control prices, provide basic, food materials to all citizens with low prices.
