The Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdulkarim said on Sunday that the Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Mouallem is excellently recovering after surgery in Beirut.
Moallem underwent a scheduled successful heart surgery at the American University of Beirut on Friday. The medical team who conducted the surgery said the operation was a great success and that Mouallem will return to health and normal duties.
In a statement to SANA, Abdulkarim said the minister’s condition is improving and noted that a number of Arab and foreign ambassadors and national political and party leaders in Lebanon visited Mouallem at hospital.
Abdulkarim received a phone call from former Lebanese Prime Minister Selim El-Hoss who wished Mouallem a speedy recovery.
Earlier, Abdulkarim stressed that aMouallem has been receiving excellent medical care at the American University of Beirut and quoted doctors as saying that the minister quickly responded to treatment and that his condition is stable.
