Tourism Minister Bisher Yazigi, met with a Russian youth and student delegation to discuss cooperation in the field of tourism and means of activating ties in the fields of education and investment.
The minister also discussed opening a branch fof the Synergy University for tourism in Damascus.
Yazigi stressed that the ministry is working to increase interest in tourist education and the rehabilitation of Syria's touristic treasures. He pointed to a rise in hotel bookings in line with the gradual restoration of security in Syria thanks to the heroic efforts of the Syrian Arab Army.
The minister noted that a number of investors have expressed a desire to launch touristic projects and to re-activate tourist investments that were suspended because of the crisis in Syria.
The Russian delegation stressed that tourism in Syria should reflect its global position, treasures and biodiversity, adding that the current and future situation will open great opportunities for foreign investments, particularly Russian.
