An Islamist rebel group in eastern Syria has beheaded a defected army officer who pledged allegiance to the Al-Qaeda renegade group the Islamic State in Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS), a statement said.
The Shura Mujahideen Council said Captain Abu Haroun, a Free Syrian Army officer was killed in al-Muhassan town near Deir El-Zor due to his cooperation with ISIS, which took control of the town a week ago.
Shura al-Mujahideen, a main rebel group in eastern Syria, was formed by Nusra Front, Ahrar al-Sham and other 10 rebel factions.
