Prime Minister Hails Civil Society Groups

Halki says civil society groups help deal with the scars left behind by terrorism

Prime Minister Wael al-Halki on Monday met a delegation from the 'Sayyedat Souria al-Khair' civil society group headed by Jeancette Kazan.

During the meeting, Halki asserted the important role played by civil society initiatives during the crisis in charity and humanitarian aid work and "in dealing with the scars left behind by terrorism".

He said that the war against Syria, "employs terrorism to fragment the Syrian social fabric", but said the cohesion of Syria’s society with its tolerance, moderation, and openness has foiled all attempts to create strife.

Halki said that Sayyedat Souria al-Khair is a fine example of the good nature of the Syrian people and the noble qualities of Syrian women.
