Cabinet Ratifies Cooperation Agreement with Russia

The Syrian Cabinet on Tuesday ratified the cooperation agreement on customs signed by the Russian and Syrian governments in Sochi on 24 October, and approved a bill on the rights of people with disabilities.

The Cabinet also approved the sale of 383,000 square meters of land in the Hama countryside to the Military Housing Establishment to build a housing project on it.

The ministers discussed the state of the economy and services, specifically issues related to providing fuel and food, and challenges affecting the transport, electricity, and drinking water sectors, with Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi asserting that the government will not allow anyone to destabilize the exchange rate of the Syrian Pound or the national economy.

The Cabinet offered congratulations to the Syrian people on the occasion of Christmas, the New Year, and the Birth of Prophet Mohammad holidays, voicing hope that 2015 will be the year when terrorism is defeated and security is restored to Syria.
