ISIS Raises Local Fighters' Salaries

The "Deir-ez-Zor Under Fire" campaign has confirmed to All4Syria that the Islamic State (ISIS) has decided to raise the salary for each new Syrian recruit in Deir-ez-Zor.

Salaries of new ISIS recruits will reach over 50,000 Syrian pounds per member – around USD $220.

The campaign said ISIS wants to encourage Syrians to join its ranks, taking advantage of the dire poverty and bad living conditions afflicting the majority of Syrian families in ISIS-held areas.

The campaign confirmed that ISIS arrested a group of its Syrian fighters, including an ISIS "prince" in the village of al-Musarrab in the western countryside of Deir-ez-Zor, after charging him with treason.

The prince has since disappeared.
