Oxfam Aims to Expand Aid Projects in Syria

Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad met with Oxfam CEO Mark Goldring and an accompanying delegation on Sunday to discuss bosting joint cooperation in relief work, namely in projects related to health and water purification and the possibility of future cooperation in other fields.

Mikdad thanked Oxfam for its efforts in Syria, stressing the importance of the organization’s independent work and the need to continue its mission inside the country.

The foreign minister noted that Syria is keen to cooperate with international NGOs that are interested in helping the Syrian government to provide basic services for Syrian citizens.

Expressing satisfaction over the cooperation between Damascus and Oxfam, Goldring said he hoped to expand projects in Syria to include other sectors like education and building capabilities.

Oxfam is an international confederation of 17 organizations working in approximately 94 countries worldwide to find solutions to poverty and injustice around the world.
