Assad’s Russian-backed Forces Advance in Coastal Lattakia

Assad forces progressed in the northern countryside of Lattakia on Thursday, November 19, with the assistance of allied foreign militias and Russian air cover.

Enab Baladi’s correspondent in the coastal province said Assad forces were able to control several strategic hills east of the city of Kasab in Mount Turkmen, northern countryside of Lattakia, in addition to other hills surrounding the Jib al-Ahmar area in Mount al-Akrad.

The correspondent said Free Syrian Army factions and Islamic battalions are trying to halt the progress of the attacking forces.

Syria’s official news agency, SANA, said regime forces seized Point 803 in the southeast of Kassab, the village of Shumaisah, Point 482, and the hills in Mount Azwaik.

The regime is trying to seize the Mount Younis area, Jib al-Ahmar town on the eastern axis of Mount al-Akrad, in an effort to regain areas lost a number of months ago.
