Mikdad: Syria to Continue Cooperation with Chemical Weapons Watchdog

Syria to continue its commitment to the abolition of chemical weapons, says deputy foreign minister

Deputy Foreign Minister Fayssal Mikdad met on Thursday with the head of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), Ahmat Uzumcu, to discuss enhancing cooperation.

The meeting took place on the sideline of the 20th session of the Conference of States Parties of CSP-20 at The Hague.

Mikdad briefed Uzumcu on Syria's efforts regarding Damascus’ commitment to the OPCW agreement, stressing Syria’s keenness to carry out its duties in this regards.

Uzumcu, for his part, expressed his gratitude to the Syrian government for meeting its commitments, adding that what had been done is a historic accomplishment and success for both Syria and the OPCW.
