Switzerland Sends Ambulances to Syria for Red Crescent

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent received on Monday 12 fully-equipped ambulances from Switzerland’s federal development agency, signaling the beginning of cooperation between the two organizations.

Head of the Red Crescent Abdelrahman al-Attar noted that seven of the ambulances will be delivered to the organization’s branch in Aleppo and its countryside while the remaining vehicles will be distributed among the other provinces.

Attar added that the Red Crescent aims to complement Syria’s health ministry in its work, chiefly in ambulance emergency services after a large number of response vehicles were damaged.

For his part, Ambassador for the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation Manuel Bessler said that the ambulances are offered by the Swiss people to alleviate the suffering of Syrians and to support the Red Crescent in its emergency services.
