Russian Helicopter Shot Down Returning From Aleppo Aid Mission

A Russian helicopter was shot down by terrorists in the Idleb countryside on Monday after making a humanitarian aid drop to Aleppo city, the Kremlin has confirmed.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that five personnel were killed after the Mi-8 helicopter was shot down as it was returning to Hmeimim airbase in Lattakia from an aid mission in Aleppo.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian personnel were killed as they attempted to maneuver the helicopter away from inhabited areas to avoid collateral damage on the ground.
