Ahrar al-Sham Leader Says US Troops in Al-Rai an ‘Occupation’

Sharia advisor and co-founder of the Ahrar al-Sham Islamic Movement, Abul-Abbas al-Shami, said that any attempt by the American military to enter the town of Al-Rai on Syria’s border with Turkey will be considered an attempted occupation.

Abul-Abbas, who describes himself as independent political activist, said in a message to the Free Syrian Army deployed in Jarablus and Al-Rai that any US forces entering Al-Rai would be seen as an occupation force, like the Russian and Iranian forces.

He added that the US forgets that most of the Syrian people’s hardships are due to America’s actions, adding that Washington is aware of the consequences of its intervention in the Syrian north to divide the rebels, which will give extremist groups greater power over moderate forces.

Abul-Abbas is one of the most influential figures in Ahrar al-Sham alongside other leaders of the movement like the late Abou Abdullah al-Hamwi.
