Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem on Wednesday accepted the accreditation of Ali al-Zaatari as the new UN relief coordinator in Syria tasked with overseeing the humanitarian effort in the war-torn country.
Zaatari, the former UN deputy envoy for Libya, arrived in the capital Damascus late last week and commenced working on Tuesday, a UN spokesperson announced.
