Head of White Helmets in Deraa Killed in Bomb Attack

Abdullah al-Sarhan, a prominent Syrian activist and the head of Deraa's Civil Defense (White Helmets) was killed on Monday after a bomb hit his car while on a mission east of Deraa.

Sarhan's death is a loss for all humanitarian workers who defy death every day in war-torn Syria. Activists accused the Syrian regime and Islamic State (ISIS)-affiliated groups of targeting Sarhan.

Roadside explosives have killed a large number of moderate rebel commanders and Civil Defense workers in Deraa.
