Khamis to WFP: Syria Ready to Support Work of Aid Organizations

The Syrian government is ready to provide support to humanitarian organizations with their delivery of aid to the Syrian people, Prime Minister Imad Khamis affirmed during a meeting with World Food Program Executive Director David Beasley on Tuesday.

Khamis also reviewed the government’s efforts to empower Syrian families through support for family farming, home gardens, projects for rural women, micro-enterprises and small handicraft workshops.

For his part, Beasley said that his visit aimed at boosting cooperation with the government in order to meet the needs of the Syrian people, hailing the continued cooperation between the WFP team and Damascus.

Also attending the meeting, Environment Minister Hussein Makhlouf said that the Syrian government bears the largest burden of securing humanitarian aid for those affected by the terrorist war. He added that Syria continually provides international relief organizations with necessary facilities to deliver humanitarian aid to people in need.
