Elementary Students Commence Final Exams Across Syria

Education minister says government assisted in evacuation of thousands of students from opposition-held areas in order to ensure students could attend exams, state media reports

About 270,000 primary school students attended the first of their graduate exams on Sunday as pupils were received at over 2,000 examination centers throughout the country.

Visiting a number of exam centers in the capital Damascus, Education Minister Hazwan al-Waz said that the ministry had taken all required measures to guarantee the success of the examination process.

Waz added that the state has evacuated thousands of students from Idleb, Raqqa, the Damascus countryside and the countryside of Aleppo in order for them to take their final exams. He added that temporary housing centers equipped with all the basic needs were provided for students who had arrived from other areas.

The basic education exams will last until May 25.
