Macron: New Syria Contact Group to Meet at U.N. Next Month

French president says restoring peace and stabilizing Iraq and Syria is main foreign policy goal, official media reports

French President Emmanuel Macron has set fighting terrorism as a priority of France’s foreign policy.

In an annual address on Tuesday, Macron told 170 French ambassadors that a new contact group on Syria will meet at the United Nations in New York in September, with the participation of “main players” in the Syrian crisis.
