Drones Shot While Targeting Russian Air Base at Hmeimeem

Social media pages loyal to the Assad regime reported that the Russian air base at Hmeimeem was attacked again by drones on Saturday.

The pages said that “Russian air defenses inside the Hmeimeem air base in Jableh repulsed a number of drones close to the air base and downed one of them.”

According to the same sources, the warning sirens were sounded in the air base at the time of the attack, leading to the sound of anti-aircraft and light machine gun fire while repulsing the drone.

The “Jableh Moment by Moment Network” published a video reportedly filmed at the moment the aircraft were struck by light and anti-aircraft weapons.

For its part, the unofficial social media page for the air base said: “Security developments in the skies of the Hmeimeem military base resulting from the presence of a threat of hostile objects are being dealt with.”

This attack comes hours after a drone was shot down near Shatt al-Asaliya, which neighbors the coastal city of Jableh.
