A Syrian government delegation headed by Bashar al-Jaafari met on Wednesday with United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura in Vienna.
The meeting, which took place at the U.N. headquarters in the Austrian capital, comes after eight previous rounds of negotiations were held in Geneva, the last of which ended on Dec. 14.
On Wednesday, de Mistura expressed optimism over the talks in Vienna which are being held at “a very critical stage.”
