A number of towns of the Houla region in the central Homs province faced around 200 air strikes and 27 civilian casualties over one week, according to statement released by the local council.
Syrian regime forces backed by Russian fighter jets have been pounding the northern countryside, including the towns of Teldo, Kafr Laha, Tel Thahab and Al-Taiba Al-Gharbiya, amid deteriorating living conditions in the last remaining rebel strongholds.
The council said medical staff had been unable to treat injuries due to lack of medicine and medical equipment.
Zaman al-Wasl’s correspondent in Homs said the villages of Holal, Aqrab, and Talaf in Hama’s southern countryside were also exposed to more than 100 air raids on Saturday and Sunday injuring 40 civilians, half of them women and children.
He added that a family of nine were injured and killed when a barrel bomb struck their house on Saturday. Media activist and correspondent in Homs countryside Jalal Suleyman al-Jazeera was also injured by regime air strikes on Taldo on Sunday.
Zaman al-Wasl’s correspondent in Homs reported that all recent regime air strikes in Houla targeted residential areas, especially in the center of the city.
