Syrian or Russian warplanes killed 12 people and wounded others in the town of Kafr Takharim in the rebel-held Idleb countryside after striking a hospital with a number of air raids. Victims included doctors and nurses, alongside a number of patients who were receiving treatment at the time of the raids.
Sources on the ground and activists in the Idleb countryside said that the planes struck the hospital after midnight on Monday with three successive strikes, causing heavy damage to the hospital and its environs.
Activists added that the warplanes had previously struck the town of Al-Duwailah with a number of raids, adding that after the wounded were transported to the Kafr Takharim hospital, the building was struck to prevent them from being treated.
A video posted online showed heavy damage sustained by the hospital and its ambulances. The hospital provides services to about 300,000 people in the neighboring towns and cities.
