Two Missile Attacks Againt US Base in Conoco Gas Field Within 24 Hours

Sources from Athr Press confirmed that the base, where US forces are stationed in the Conoco gas field in the northern countryside of Deir-ez-Zor, was subjected to missile targeting after midnight on Friday.

Athr Press sources reported that the base was hit by missiles for the second time in 24 hours.

The same base was targeted at about 12 pm on Thursday, July 25, with three missiles. Athr Press sources confirmed that the targeting affected an air defence system Patriot and a radar point.

These targets coincided with several US actions in eastern Syria. In the middle of July, the commander of the US Central Command, Michael Corella, arrived in that area. The US Central Command confirmed that the visit aimed to assess the security situation in the region. On July 25, sources reported the entry of a convoy of US military reinforcements to eastern Syria, noting that this convoy is one of the largest in terms of reinforcements passing through the region.

In other related news, on April 15, 2024, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohamed Shia al-Sudani met with US President Joe Biden to discuss the future presence of US forces in Iraq and other Middle East issues, especially the escalation in Palestine. A joint US-Iraqi statement was issued, indicating that “the two presidents confirmed that they will review these factors to determine when and how the international coalition’s mission in Iraq will end, and to move in an orderly manner to permanent bilateral security partnerships, in accordance with the Iraqi constitution and the Strategic Framework Agreement between Iraq and the United States.”
