Mr President, what do you expect from the Geneva II conference?
This is the question from an AFP journalist to President Bashar Assad earlier this month.
His excellency replied that at the very least – which is what we continually refer too – the Geneva conference should produce clear results with regard to the fight against terrorism in Syria.
In particular, he said, it needs to put pressure on countries that are exporting terrorism by sending terrorists, money and weapons to terrorist organizations, in particular Saudi Arabia and Turkey and of course, the Western countries that provide political cover for them.
Any political solution that is reached without fighting terrorism has no value, Assad said. There can be no political action when there is terrorism, not only in Syria but in neighboring countries also, His Excellency stressed.
Given the ongoing situation as Geneva II opens in Montreaux, the Syrian official delegation is holding talks with characterless figures who represent only the countries and intelligence agencies which groomed and prepared them for such a role.
Is it even possible with such a collection of double or triple agents to reach what is aspired to? It is impossible! So far, the events in Switzerland present a mere continuation of the world war of attrition against Syria and the Syrian people.
Anti-Syrian sheep, along with their masters- the main supporters and sponsors of terrorists in Syria – are working on a sinister and aggressive campaign in Switzerland to slaughter more Syrians.
On the political front it is possible for Geneva may contribute to a process of dialogue between Syrians. There has to be a Syrian process within Syria and, while the Geneva process could support this, it cannot be a substitute for it.
Yes, as our President of all Presidents stated, the Syrian process within Syria is the decisive priority, and according to the majority, the Syrian soldiers' boots are indeed the best cure for the anti-Syria forces concocted in Saudi Arabia and smuggled to Syria as Al-Qaeda affiliated Wahhabi terrorism.
