Syria, Russia Discuss De-Escalation Zones During Moscow Meeting

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov met with Syrian ambassador in Moscow Riyad Haddad to discuss the situation in Syria and the implementation of de-escalation zones agreement.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday that the two parties “thoroughly discussed the situation in Syria focusing on the implementation of the memorandum on de-escalation zones and ways to alleviate the humanitarian situation in the country.”

The statement said that Bogdanov and Haddad “exchanged views on creating conditions for the reconstruction of infrastructure facilities so that refugees could return to their homes and facilitating the political process aimed at resolving crisis in Syria.”

It added that the two officials exchanged views on the outcome of the sixth round of the U.N.-led talks held in Geneva last week.
