Syria Coalition May Meet Obama in Washington

Syria’s mainstream opposition Syrian National Coalition has received an invitation to visit White House and to meet the U.S. President Barack Obama, well-informed source said.

The under secretary of state for political affairs, Wendy Sherman, has invited the Coalition presidnet Ahmad Jarba on the sidelines of Syrian peace talks in Geneva on 22 January, the Al Arabi al-Jadid website reported.

According to the source, Washington did not specify the date of the visit.

Syria's opposition in the recent months has called on the U.S. to approve military action against Assad and said any intervention should be accompanied with more arms for the rebels.

The opposition says that world has offered only condolences and promises while Assad's regime, supported by its allies in Iran and Russia, has been busy killing Syria's democratic hopes.
