Russia on Wednesday rejected a U.N. Security Council draft statement tabled by Britain on the situation in Syria as “unbalanced” and for failing to mention “the crimes of the opposition”.
Russian diplomatic sources told ITAR TASS news agency Thursday that Russia rejected the draft statement proposed by Britain, which called for condemning the Syrian government, but did not refer to the crimes of the opposition.
The source pointed out that Russia described the draft statement as “unbalanced’, adding that “amendments should be made in the draft statement as it should mention the opposition’s crimes”.
Members of the U.N. Security Council failed to coordinate a draft statement on the situation on Syria for the second time this month.
