Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov slammed the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria as economic terrorism.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday, Ryabkov said Syria, Russia and Iran have been subjected to US sanctions for a long time, noting that these sanctions did not achieve any of the intended objectives.
“There are ways to minimize the consequences of US sanctions, and these ways will be improved. There are alternative partners and formats, which need to be strengthened,” said Ryabkov, adding that, “I am sure that in the case of Syria, Russian-Syrian relations will only continue to strengthen; neither the United States nor anyone else will interfere with this. And I believe that the US sanctions are economic terrorism”.
