The Assad regime and Russian air forces have targeted no fewer than 52 hospitals and medical centers since the beginning of 2016, according to the head of the opposition Syrian Interim Government.
Interim government Prime Minister Jawad Abu Hatab said that air strikes by the Assad regime and Russian forces also repeatedly targeted aid convoys destined for besieged civilians, the latest of which was a UN-Syrian Arab Red Crescent aid convoy near Aleppo on Monday.
"The Free Syrian Army groups have photos (and) videos showing the moment the attack took place and the remnants of the weapons used in this terrorist attack,” Abu Hatab said.
The PM added: "We have seen in Saraqib how the Russian invaders bombed the town with internationally banned weapons, especially napalm. Facilities and universities run by the interim government were also targeted by air strikes which killed a number of students."
He pointed out that Russia and the Assad regime have been systematically targeting vital civilian infrastructure in order to force civilians out of their homes, thus bringing about a demographic change in Syria.
Hatab stressed that measures like stopping the bombardment, lifting sieges, delivering humanitarian aid, and releasing detainees are not preconditions but are crucial to creating the appropriate conditions for the resumptions of negotiations. These negotiations should lead to a political solution based on international resolutions, he added.
