Regime Prepares to Evacuate 100 Residents from Waer on Monday

Sources confirmed that a truce reached between the Assad regime and negotiators from the besieged Waer neighborhood is being implemented as around 100 locals prepared to be evacuated on Monday.

Speaking to Zaman al-Wasl, a source said the Waer Negotiations Committee published a statement titled “completing the evacuation to Homs’ northern countryside” in which it explained the agreement to evacuate 200 rebel fighters with their families over the coming days.

It mentioned that there is a possibility of evacuating 100 people on Monday, with the committee calling on those wishing to leave to register in Al-Walid hospital on Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

This second evacuation comes three days after a first group of 300 locals and rebels were evacuated from Waer on Thursday to the town of Al-Dar al-Kabirah, situated 4 km north-west of Homs city.

The United Nations refrained from supervising the evacuation operation on Thursday from Waer neighborhood saying that it would not be an accomplice in the process of forced displacement.
