Only Terrorists Reject U.N. Resolutions on Combatting Terrorism: Presidential Media

Director of the Presidential Media Office, Luna al-Shibl said on Thursday that whoever rejects statements based on the U.N. Security Council resolutions related to combating terrorism is himself a terrorist.

The comments came in reference  to the rejection of the draft statement submitted by the Syrian official delegation on combating terrorism by the of the Coalition delegation of the so-called “opposition” at Geneva.

In a statement to reporters, Shibl pointed out that the draft statement is clear and based on the U.N. Security Council resolutions calling for serious and immediate work to combat terrorism and pursue terrorist organizations in all Syrian territories.

She added that most items of the Geneva I communique talk about combating terrorism directly or indirectly and that achieving all items required a stable, secure situation on the ground. Consequently, she said, stopping terrorism is a must.

She stressed that the Syrian government is ready to implement the Geneva I communique, but in order, and that the Syrian government is working to ease the humanitarian suffering in Syria.

Shibl said that the official delegation has tried to establish common ground in a simplified way at Geneva, and has talked about a sovereign state, combating terrorism and liberating territories, but that the other side has rejected the most basic principles.

Answering questions about “essential talks” going on in Berne with the participation of Iran, Shibl denied such talks are taking place and said the Syrian official delegation is in Geneva, with no other delegation elsewhere.
