The Syrian army remained committed to the conditions of the cessation of hostilities at a time when about 300 breaches by terrorist groups were observed in seven days, according to Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem.
Muallem’s comments came during a meeting on Friday with Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari on the sidelines of the 71st session of UN General Assembly.
The two ministers stressed their countries’ determination to eliminate terrorism, emphasizing the coordination underway between them in this regard, with Jaafari noting that both Syria and Iraq are facing the same terrorism.
Earlier, the Syrian FM met with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, who affirmed that Moscow is committed to the priority of separating the “opposition” from the Nusra Front group before moving forward with discussing any future steps with the United States.
Muallem also met with Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei, Sudanese Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour and Omani Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi.
